A coach can be defined in many ways. A leader. A role model. A friend. For the last 2 years, volleyball Head Coach Ken Anderson has lived up to every meaning of the word coach, and more.
“[Coach Ken] taught me how to be tough, if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be the player I was at the end of the season,” player Elizabeth Coleman (12) said.
Anderson began his career at EHS as C team coach.
“I coached C team for 12 years, and then moved up to head coach,” Anderson said.
Although Anderson finished the 2012 season with no league wins, he led a team that learned how to have fun, despite the scoreboard.
“[This season] Coach showed me how to always have fun in any game no matter the outcome,” player Cinthia Esparza (12) said.
For his last year, Anderson led a team that wanted to play the game with the same drive that he possessed.
“[Coach] helped me improve as a player, because I can see how much heart he has for the sport, and it pushed me to be more,” player Shelby Ore (9) said.
